Shirley Manson's (vocalist of Garbage) earliest musical memories were of her mother, who sang with a big band when Manson was a child. Manson was exposed to classic jazz records as she grew up and work by Nina Simone, Peggy Lee and Ella Fitzgerald. Early in Manson's teenage years, she became a fan of Siouxsie & the Banshees albums The Scream and Kaleidoscope, and taught herself how to sing listening to those albums, later stating "many of the songs of those two albums were massive loves of my life". Vocalist Siouxsie Sioux embodied how Manson aspired to be as a teen. Manson would later write the foreword to Siouxsie & The Banshees: The Authorised Biography.

At nineteen, Manson discovered Patti Smith, and specifically Smith's Horses album, which she admits made a "strong impact" on her. Manson was inspired to learn guitar by Chrissie Hynde, while also appreciating the style of Debbie Harry. The majority of Manson's influences were female musicians, however she also notes David Bowie as an inspiring male musician. Manson also grew up listening to Ian Brown, Nick Cave, Frank Sinatra,The Clash and the Velvet Underground.

The songs of mind.in.a.box are stories from this world, building on the metaphor of imprisoned minds and the fact of our fundamental aloneness in the world.

In a search performed on MySpace on December 1st, 2008, 294 bands had listed Leæther Strip (or "Leather Strip") as a musical influence, although the true number of bands influenced by Larsen's work is undoubtedly much higher.

[TRANSMISSION 95] Clocks (Gabriel & Dresden Mix) By Coldplay

Coldplay's musical style has been defined as alternative rock, being compared to Jeff Buckley and Oasis. Lead singer/songwriter Chris Martin once labelled the band's music as "limestone rock". The band's music has been called "meditative" and "blue romantic"; it "[reflects] on their emotions" and Martin "endlessly examine[s] his feelings". Martin's lyrical wordplay has been called feminist, similar to Andrew Montgomery of Geneva.

During the early years, Coldplay became widely known in the media for claims they gave 10% of the band's profits to charity, which they continue to do. Bassist Guy Berryman said, "You can make people aware of issues. It isn't very much effort for us at all, but if it can help people, then we want to do it." The band also asks that any gifts intended for them are donated to charity, according to a response on the FAQ section of Coldplay's website. Martin was outspoken against the 2003 invasion of Iraq, and he endorsed the United States Democratic presidential candidates John Kerry, and Barack Obama in 2004 and 2008 respectively.

In June 2009, Coldplay began supporting Meat Free Monday, a food campaign started by Sir Paul McCartney which attempts to help slow climate change by having at least one meat free day a week.

[TRANSMISSION 90] Utopia (Tom Middleton's Cosmos Vocal Remix) by Goldfrapp

Goldfrapp by far needs no introduction. The majority of band's songs are composed by Alison Goldfrapp and Gregory, although they have collaborated with session musician Nick Batt several times. They have called their writing sessions a "democratic affair", playing off one another while in the recording studio. However, Alison Goldfrapp is responsible for the lyrics. While writing, Goldfrapp uses her vocals to create melodies and drumbeats. Gregory composes his music on vintage keyboards, interpreting the mood of Goldfrapp's lyrics. Alison Goldfrapp believes that "music is a visual experience" and therefore visualizes her lyrics before writing them. Her songwriting is characterized by its use of animals to describe human emotions and status.

<itunes:summary>Seven studio albums have been produced under the name of the 'Enigma'project. Their first and most successful album, MCMXC a.D., sold more than 20 million copies worldwide.

Did you know: Enigma was also among the very first recording groups to use a digital audio workstation as a recording studio and to include non-percussion musical instrument and vocal samples, such as the shakuhachi flute and Gregorian monk chants.

Enjoy this mix exclusively from the 'Hello and Welcome' German CD Single.

[TRANSMISSION 82] Tears from the Moon [Hybrid's Twisted on the Terrace Mix] by Conjure One

Conjure One is a Canadian electronic music project, headed by Rhys Fulber, better known as a member of Front Line Assembly and Delerium, as well as other musical groups alongside Bill Leeb.

Fulber left Front Line Assembly and thereby all other Leeb-associated projects in early 1997, in pursuit of a solo career. Soon after, a debut album was announced, though Fulber's work as a producer and remixer eventually pushed its release to September 2002.

The self-titled album was a fusion of the electronic characteristics of Fulber's previous work -- keyboard-based, with rhythmic dance beats -- and the influences of Middle Eastern music, which inspired ambient melodies more reminiscent of Delerium.

A number of songs were more pop-oriented and featured guest vocalists, primarily Poe and Chemda, the latter singing entirely in Arabic. Sinéad O'Connor and Jeff Martin of The Tea Party were also featured.
